Sarasota may be known for its crystal-clear water and sandy beaches, but did you know it’s also home to the largest number of Zagat rated restaurants in Florida?
Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week began June 1, with over 90 restaurants offering pre-fixe, multi-course menus priced between $16 for lunch and $32 for dinner, per person. With the popularity of the event, many of the participating eateries are continuing to offer specialized menus for a number of weeks, and even months. Extended promotions and discounts are running through July 31, with others concluding on August 31, and a select few will run through September 30.
This is the 13th annual Savor Sarasota event, with 25 new restaurants joining the line-up. Some of these include Farlow’s on the Water, Howard’s Restaurant, Brick’s Smoked Meats, Tokaj, Italian Tradition Restaurant & Martini Bar, El Greco Mediterranean Café and Two Senioritas. Many of the returning favorites such as Michael’s on East, Euphemia Haye and Café L’Europe are locally owned and operated establishments.
Whether in the mood for casual, or fine dining, Savor Sarasota’s unique menus and bargains are sure to please. Here’s a sample of what you’ll find:
Chaz 51 Bistro is on Triple Diamond Boulevard in North Venice and offers upscale offerings in a bistro setting. The restaurant has extended its three-course offerings through Savor Sarasota through July 31. Steaks, seafood and a full wine bar accent this stop that is a short drive from West Villages. Lunch and dinner menus are seasonally inspired so there is always something new to try – and savor.
Bonefish Grill in Venice is participating in Savor Sarasota through the end of September with a three-course menu that includes soup or salad and choice of Filet mignon, chicken or salmon, scallops and shrimp, and tilapia. For dessert, patrons can pick from macadamia nut brownie, cheesecake or coconut pie.
Mattison’s City Grille is located in the heart of downtown Sarasota and is the ideal location for Saturday breakfast, Sunday Brunch, lunch, dinner, late night dining, and enjoying drinks on their outdoor covered bar, accompanied with live music. Chef Paul Mattison prides his restaurant on serving signature menu options, providing impeccable service, and offering fresh ingredients, while supporting the community and regional farmers.
Ophelia’s On the Bay has extended its Savor Sarasota menu through September. Enjoy decadent seafood like Drunken Maine Lobster Bisque, Jumbo Black Tiger Shrimp and Grits and Gulf Triggerfish, in their waterfront dining rooms or outdoor open air patio that provide breathtaking views of Little Sarasota Bay.
Chianti Ristorante Italiano has also extended their promotional menu through September. This Italian eatery opened in 2012 and is run by Ed and Josie Pizzuti, who have been in the restaurant business for over 40 years. Chianti places focus on serving authentic recipes such as Clams Origanata, Pork Chop Milanese and Housemade Cannolis, with elegant presentation and created using the finest, local ingredients.
Harry’s Continental Kitchens is serving up a four-course Savor Sarasota menu through August 25. Feast on Gazpacho, Tuna Poke Tacos, Grilled Duck Breast BLT, Seared Local Snapper and Chocolate Mousse Cake in a beautiful garden setting, complete with an outside bistro patio, at this Longboat Key landmark that’s been open since 1979.
