Four hotels under in planning stages surrounding West Villages Florida would bring long overdue options for visitors to the area as well as residents who have large families that want to visit.
The proposed hotels, revealed in a Sarasota Herald-Tribune story here, would significantly boost the region’s capacity by as much as 400 rooms. Three proposed hotels are in Venice and one is in North Port.
North Port has not seen a new hotel since the 1970s, according to the Herald-Tribune report. City economic development leaders point to North Port’s consistent job and the new Atlanta Braves Spring Training complex in West Villages as reasons for the increased demand.
The North Port hotel project is working its way through city permitting now. The site is on the north side of U.S. 41, just west of Sumter Boulevard, and is being considered for a Hilton-flagged hotel, according to the Herald Tribune.
