The land has a history that includes cattle and agriculture. Ranching began here in the 1930s, and cattle continue to graze here. There were once orange groves as well
as fields of watermelon. Today hay is the only crop grown. It is used for the cattle and horses on the ranch and for other local ranches.
In May 2014 a partnership invested about $100 million to purchase approximately 9,600 acres that represents the remainder of the former Berry and Taylor family ranch. The partnership that purchased The Ranch in 2014 includes Mattamy Homes, North America’s largest private home builder, and locally owned Vanguard Land, one of the region’s premier and well respected land developers. The team is creating a master-planned community with build out of about 23,000 homes and 3 million square feet of commercial space as well as parks, greenways, lakes and recreational space over the next 30 to 40 years.
This area has a rich history of respect for the land and caring for the environment. This will continue in perpetuity.
